The conference is ACUHO-I's most comprehensive professional development event of the year. People have come to know and appreciate - even marvel at - Disney's legendary service. They ask what kind of leaders it takes to achieve such a level. They want to know how Disney finds and trains peole so committed to creating the magical experience for guests.
This program is designed to help you understand Disney's critical thinking around what great leaders do to cultivate a strong and positive workforce. The program explores where the true power of a leader lies, how Disney's workforce is selected and trained, and how effective communications, recognition, and retention are achieved at the largest single-site employer in the United States.
Scholar-In-Residence/Case Study Competition
ACUHO-I is proud to welcome Tony Cawthon, professor of Counselor Education, Student Affairs at Clemson University as the 2008 ACUHO-I Scholar-In-Residence. Prior to beginning his faculty career at Clemson University, he worked as a Student Affairs administrator for over 15 years at Clemson, Mississippi State University, and the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. he has published articles and edited journals such as The Journal of College and University Student Housing, NASPA Journal, the College Student Affair Journal, and the Journal of College Orientation and Transition. His current research interest are new professionals' issues, higher education administration, multicultural and diversity, and career development.
Throughout the conference, Cawthon will present on assorted topics and be available for consultation with conference attendees. He will lead discussions for the ACUHO-I Reading Initiative and serve as host of the Case Study Competition. The competition consists of an information session, the competition period, and a feedback session where participating attendees put their professional knowledge to the test as they analyze and solve student affairs issues.

for the 2008 ACUHO-I Annual Conference and Exposition is the ACUHO-I
Reading Initiative. Turn the page with other conference attendees and
read Five Dysfunctions of Team by Patrick lencioni as part of
our super-sized book club. Then be a part of the discussion in Florida
as visitin Scholar-In-Residence Tony Cawthon leads discussions on the
book. Copies of the book will be available for purchase online at the
time of registration.
