Testimonials
Who donates to the ACUHO-I Foundation?

It’s the chief housing officer who has made her career working to better the lives of thousands of students. It’s the recent graduate enthusiastically working his first job as a hall director. It’s the large company that provides millions of dollars of goods and services to campus residence halls. It’s the small businesses that have recognized universities as a niche market. And it’s the colleges and universities that embrace the invaluable role residence halls play on their campuses.

Individually and collectively, each year hundreds of people – people like you – make their tax-deductable donation to the ACUHO-I Foundation. They understand their funds enable incredible things to happen. They know that giving matters.
  • I believe that ACUHO-I provides a valuable service to the housing profession by connecting professionals from various backgrounds and institutions together. The forum that ACUHO-I offers allows for us to engage and involve each other in advancing higher education housing services and facilities across the world. This provides us with numerous opportunities to build strong working relationships and create innovative solutions to the complex and challenging issues facing our profession today. I donated to ACUHO-I because I wanted to give back to the profession and also because I consider this donation to be an investment in the professionals of the future. In addition, I strongly support and believe in the globalization mission of ACUHO-I. By providing resources and facilitating discussions amongst the international community, we can learn from each other and generate countless new possibilities. This is an exciting time of expansion and development within ACUHO-I and I would strongly encourage my colleagues to find ways to support ACUHO-I in this endeavor.
Azfar Mian, Director of Housing for Admin Services, University of Florida

  • “ACUHO-I is where I've chosen to give my time, talent, and treasure.  Each of us makes decisions about their personal giving.  For me the ACUHO-I Foundation is near and dear to my heart.  I believe in the good work that Foundation money supports. Having construction monographs, the 21st Century Project, and online resources assist me in preparing presentations or studies, work with architects and contractors, and being familiar with construction trends is just one example of how the Foundation has helped me, and why I help the Foundation.”
Jill Eckardt, director of Housing and Residential Life, Florida Atlantic University

  • "Our contributions to the ACUHO-I Foundation are of a personal nature.  The members of ACUHO-I have supported my family since 1979.  Half of our contribution is a repayment for all that support, with the other half being a prepayment for all the support that will be extended to our sons as they begin  developing those relationships with ACUHO-I members.  Those relationships will help them be more successful and content in their business life than the financial rewards of our company.  An understanding of that principle is a prayer to them.

“Education is the backbone of any organization and especially for ACUHO-I.  Our contributions are earmarked for educational opportunities within the organization, so that members, old and new, are better prepared to serve our young men and women living within the housing environments on campuses across the world.”
    Lee Thompson, Sr., Southwest Contract

  • “I donate because my profession has been great to me. I donate because ACUHO-I has provided wonderful opportunities for me individually and has provided excellent service, information, and programs for the residence life programs at the institutions where I have served. I donate because I want to be a role model for my staff. I donate because I see our profession being enhanced by the services, resources, and products being delivered through the collective efforts of the central office staff, the executive board, and the foundation board. I donate because it feels good. It feels like the right thing to do.”
    E. Thayne King, housing professional

  • "Although the company I work for has been generous to ACUHO-I, I felt I needed to step forward and contribute on a personal basis as my way of saying ''thank you'' to all who have trusted working with me since 1998. Through the years of serving campus I had built strong relationships with several individuals. When I was approached about helping the ACUHO-I Foundation it was a perfect match. I had found a way to help and thank ACUHO-I for my success.

“ACUHO-I and the Foundation are excellent tools for exposure and a great source of information. They also create an environment where colleges and vendors can get together and learn about one another in a relaxed atmosphere."
Eric Proulx, district manager, Foliot Furniture, Inc.

  • "I donate to the ACUHO-I Foundation because I am committed to the collegiate housing profession and all it has done for me personally and professionally. ACUHO-I leads the way in helping train housing officers on the latest innovations in programs and facilities which will enhance the student experience on our campuses. I believe in ACUHO-I's contribution to our field and I want to support my colleagues in their personal and professional development as well. Donating to the Foundation is just one way to extend my stewardship to those who have helped me along the way."
Connie Carson, vice president Student Services, Furman University
