Committee Makes Profession's Voice Heard
The Public Policy Advisory Committee coordinates the association's responses to pertinent federal legislative action, provides the association with information regarding legislative action, and works with partner associations and the Consortium on Government Relations for Student Affairs. Although the focus of the committee is on United States federal legislation, it can serve as a resource to the executive board and members on U.S. state legislative issues that impact housing professionals. The committee chair reports to the ACUHO-I executive director and works with Emily Glenn, corporate librarian in the Central Office.
See list of committee members here.
The chair of the committee (Bill Fox, Denison University) also serves as the association’s liaison to the Consortium on Government Relations for Student Affairs, which has a collective membership of more than 35,000 student affairs administrators employed at colleges and universities throughout the United States. The Consortium consists of ACUHO-I and four additional higher education associations: College Student Educators International (ACPA), the Association for Student Judicial Affairs (ASJA), Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA), and the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA).
If interested in joining this committee or contributing your comments on current legislative issues, please contact the chair. The committee hosts an open meeting at the annual conference and a report is presented at the annual board meeting on consortium related activity. The committee also gathers quarterly for committee phone conferences.
