ACUHO-I Global Housing Summit, January 11-15, 2009
The Association of College and University Housing Officers – International (ACUHO-I) is excited to announce advance plans for the ACUHO-I Global Housing Summit. This unique, international event will be held January 11-16, 2009 in Hong Kong. It will bring together 100 senior collegiate housing and student development leaders from around the world to discuss the ever-changing face of housing and residence life, identify challenges, share experiences on possible solutions, or discover new ideas.
The Summit is an incredible opportunity for the participants, the universities they represent and the profession. The event will include five days of discussions with senior collegiate housing and student development officers with the goal of identifying the global issues that impact college students and housing professionals. The summit participants will identify issues and develop potential solutions that ACUHO-I and its members can begin to address.
To further engage the dialogue, Summit participants will tour of residence halls at the City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong Polytechnic, and possibly other institutions while meeting with students and staff. Additionally, there is planned an architectural tour of Hong Kong. Finally, an optional study tour of China is planned to complement the summit. Details are still being arranged and will be made available as they develop.
“As an international association, this event captures the essence and mission of ACUHO-I,” says Sallie Traxler, executive director of ACUHO-I. “By bringing all these representatives together to share their insight and experiences, all attendees will learn a great deal about how collegiate housing is managed around the world, add their voice to the conversation, and bring those experiences back to their own campuses.”
Details on the registration process will be released soon. In the meantime, questions and comments will be directed to Josh Goldman, the ACUHO-I director of education, at josh@acuho-i.org.
