The James C. Grimm National Housing Training Institute provides a thorough professional development experience for younger professionals looking to further their career in housing. Participants meet and interact with other colleagues, establish mentor relationships with experts in the field, develop professional development plans, and gain skills and competencies needed to meet the current and future demands of the profession. The institute recognizes the importance of the evolving housing field, and it strives to provide participants with the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in the ever changing field.
Application Process Applications are now being accepted for the 2008 James C. Grimm National Housing Training Institute (NHTI). The Institute is an intense professional development opportunity for those with 3-5 years of full-time experience in the housing field. Senior-level housing and student affairs officers serve as faculty for the Institute, and the curriculum is based on a set of competencies that research has identified as essential for housing professionals. NHTI participants will assess their current competencies and create a professional development plan to achieve their career goals.
The Institute will be held from June 10-14, 2008, at the University of Maryland. The priority application deadline is January 14, 2008, and the regular application deadline is February 11, 2008. Deadlines & Fees The priority application deadline is January 14, 2008 and the regular application deadline is February 11, 2008. The fee for the 2008 Institute is $800.
Housing Accommodations Participants and NHTI faculty will be staying in suites and apartments at the University of Maryland.
Award Reimbursement Information Award reimbursements are available to assist with the cost of the Institute. Award reimbursements are funded by many of the ACUHO-I regions and the ACUHO-I Research and Educational Foundation. Successful applicants will receive award reimbursement information along with notice of acceptance to the Institute.
