The new ACUHO-I Standards & Competencies for Campus Housing Professionals are now available. Updated for 2025 and beyond, this new resource covers nine functional areas that encompass housing and residence life. Along with standards and guidelines that detail the best practices that housing departments should strive to achieve, it is now paired with detailed catalogs of the professional skills and knowledge that individual staff members need to reach those goals.

This session will be presented by Amanda Knerr, who led more than 30 volunteer subject-matter experts in reviewing, revising, and creating these standards and competencies to properly address a rapidly changing campus housing profession. Learn about the process that guided them and, most importantly, how housing departments and professionals can leverage this information to assess their work, increase their performance, provide a more robust student-living experience, and map out a career path.
