Learning from Others. Developing Together.

The Aspiring Directors Institute is your chance to build skills and strategies that will support your higher education career advancement. This unique cross-association professional development opportunity is presented as a partnership between ACUHO-I, NIRSA, and ACUI. Together, during this three-day intensive professional development program, individuals working in campus housing, college unions and student activities, and collegiate recreation will build skills, competencies, and networks across their various functional areas

The 2024 Aspiring Directors Institute will take place in Portland, Oregon, from July 9-11, 2024. Each day of the Institute will offer specially curated content sessions, in addition to structured opportunities for discussions, meaning-making, and relationship-building throughout. Join your peers to learn about relevant trends impacting higher education with a lens of social justice and equity woven throughout explorations of staffing, organizational development, planning, and fiscal management.

This event is designed for mid-level professionals who aspire to move up to more senior positions in student affairs. Focusing on career advancement in higher education and preparing employees to be senior leaders is good for everyone: the organization, the students, the campus community, and the individuals looking to advance. Join with engaged faculty members to discover

  • strategies and skill sets that support advancement in the profession;
  • relevant trends impacting higher education with a lens of social justice and equity woven throughout topics, including organizational development, planning, and fiscal management;
  • competency development in professional supervision, assessment and goal setting, and navigating institutional dynamics to manage resources effectively; and
  • networking opportunities with a cohort of cross-functional peers who can support you through your journey.
