Program Chair-Elect and Curriculum Chair-Elect

We invite experienced professionals to apply for the Program Chair-Elect and Curriculum Chair-Elect roles for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 Leadership Academy. These two-year leadership opportunities allow individuals to shape a program that supports Housing and Residence Life professionals with 5–7 years of experience as they prepare for advanced leadership roles within ACUHO-I and on their home campuses. Each role includes one year serving as Chair-Elect, followed by one year as Chair, and involves collaboration with a dedicated planning team to design, deliver, and assess the program.  

Leadership Academy Focus Areas 

  • 2026–2027 Cohort: Housing and Residence Life professionals who are the first in their families to graduate from college
  • 2027–2028 Cohort: Professionals working outside the U.S., those with international experience, or U.S.-based professionals engaged in global housing initiatives

Program Chair-Elect (Two-Year Term) 

The Program Chair-Elect role is ideal for senior- and executive-level Housing and Residence Life professionals with broad leadership experience and a strong understanding of ACUHO-I’s mission and strategic priorities.

In this role, the Program Chair-Elect:

  • Supports the Program Chair in the first year and assumes the Chair role in the second year
  • Provides leadership for the planning, implementation, and assessment of the Leadership Academy
  • Co-leads the Planning Group, facilitates meetings, and oversees timelines and resources
  • Contributes to curriculum development by identifying speakers and shaping program content
  • Shares feedback and progress updates with ACUHO-I leadership and ensures program alignment with organizational goals

Program Chair-Elect (Two-Year Term) 

The Curriculum Chair-Elect role is well-suited for professionals with demonstrated experience in curriculum design, learning development, facilitation, and assessment, including experience applying these skills within Housing and Residence Life. However, candidates do not need to be senior housing officers to be successful in this role. While familiarity with Housing and Residence Life is valuable, candidates do not need to be senior housing officers to be successful in this role.

In this role, the Curriculum Chair-Elect:

  • Supports the Curriculum Chair in the first year and transitions into the Chair role in the second year
  • Assists in designing and assessing a cohesive, learner-centered curriculum tailored to each cohort
  • Develops pre-work assignments and aligns learning outcomes with program goals
  • Identifies and collaborates with subject-matter experts and presenters
  • Participates in applicant selection and program evaluation to ensure a high-quality learning experience

Time Commitment and Program Structure

The Leadership Academy is a 12-month experience running from May to May and includes:

  • A customized in-person experience at Campus Home Live
  • Monthly virtual meetings
  • Mentorship and collaborative learning opportunities

The Chair-Elect term runs from March 2026 through May 2028, with an estimated commitment of 4–6 hours per month.
