Join us for an exciting opportunity to strengthen your facilitation skills! ACUHO-I will host The Facilitation School on Monday, November 30, and Tuesday, December 1, from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm ET (US). Join Mike McRee, PhD, and Erin Fischer from The Whitespace Group for a virtual, two-day, hands-on program.

This highly interactive experience includes significant group work and collaboration, so participants must be available for the full program on both days and keep their cameras on throughout. Both days will include a break for lunch, and a more detailed schedule will be shared directly with registered participants ahead of the program.

Why should you (and your team) attend?

Great facilitation can make all the difference in creating engaging, meaningful experiences for your audience. Whether you’re leading a workshop, facilitating a team discussion, or presenting to a group, The Facilitation School will help you build confidence, strengthen your approach, and bring new energy to your programs. This is a great addition to the Live-In Symposium on December 2, 2026!

Better yet, you don’t have to learn alone! Bring colleagues from your institution to build skills together, share ideas, and put new techniques into practice as a team. Additional attendees from the same institution receive a 20% registration discount, making this a great opportunity to invest in your team’s professional development together.

Once the first person from your institution has registered, email finance@acuho-i.org with the following information for each additional attendee. Please include The Facilitation School Additional Registration in the subject line.

What You’ll Gain

Drawing on Mike’s PhD research on the top 12 things participants need from facilitators, this hands-on program will give you practical strategies you can put to use right away. You’ll learn how to:

  • Engage your audience with practical strategies to make programs more interactive using the 70/30 rule.
  • Adapt your facilitation style to meet your audience’s needs and create a more effective learning experience.
  • Improve your delivery by practicing your pace and pitch, managing your time, and communicating your key messages clearly.
  • Make learning memorable by discovering ways to help participants connect with and retain the content.
  • Read the room with confidence by recognizing audience reactions and learning how to respond when things don’t go as planned.
  • Put your skills into practice through hands-on activities and opportunities to try new techniques in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Whether you’re an experienced facilitator or looking to build your confidence leading groups, you’ll leave with fresh ideas and practical techniques to make your programs more engaging and effective.
